And also steal your infants.

He didn’t steal anything. She literally asked him to take the baby. Don’t make him the bad guy just because she was a shitty sister.

I think you are severely misinformed as to how baby ownership works.

It was not her baby to give.

David Bowie is unquestionably the villain.

Which do you think existed first, modern custody legislature, or the goblin king?

The girl was entrusted by her parents with the care and custody of the child. By the laws governing the goblin king and his transactions, the girl was the current rightful owner of the child and made a deal with the king to take the child. Perhaps you’re not familiar with english folklore. Fae have rules, they’re tricksters, they can be sneaky, but they never break the rules.

Slammin’ it down in the Labyrinth fandom tonight, kids.

I hate hate HATE all those 2edgy 4me theories about kids shows. Like Angelica dreaming up the rugrats, or the ed, edd, and eddy children being ghosts, or literally anything that takes a lighthearted and fun kids show and has to turn it into some tragic take of rape or murder or misinformed mental illness.

So you know what? From now on I’m gonna do the exact opposite. Every cool grim-dark show is now because of a bunch of children. To get us started:

Game of Thrones: A middle-school DnD campaign with the most angry, vindictive DM who has promised to kill everyone’s player characters (and their family) by the end.

The Walking Dead: Some 13 year olds playing with nerf guns, but trying to be really serious about it because they’re all self conscious about playing with toys.

Breaking Bad: a teacher gave a kid some confiscated rock candy and now they’re fantasizing about his personal life.

*blesses you all for this*

Supernatural: a couple tween goth girls RPing with their OCs

Orphan Black: A girl has way too many identical barbie dolls, and makes them over instead.

Firefly: group of white suburbia kids can’t agree whether they want to play cowboys, Star Trek, pirates, or ninjas.

Blade: revenge fantasy of a tiny angry black girl shunned by a group of Twilight fangirls.

IT GOT BETTER.

warehouse 13: two kids dream up stories behind weird stuff in an antique shop

Kill Bill: Angry kiddo plays pranks against neighborhood mean kids that pushed her in the mud and got her her favorite playdress dirty.

BONUS:
WoW :
this is that LARP that never ends
yes it goes on and on my friends
some children started playing it not knowing what it was
and they’ll continue playing it forever just because–

on-indian-and-conservative-wings:

Dude, if you’re interesting in my culture (or any culture, for that matter), you should be free to explore that culture and learn more about the people, languages, lifestyles, etc. Honestly, I don’t get how people are like “but it’s cultural appropriation” when others respectfully explore other cultures and then the next moment say “multiculturalism ftw!!”

Choose one or the other. Let others find out about the world through different sets of eyes, or be for segregation. You can’t be both.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: I’m super honored if y’all are interested in Indian culture. I’m far from offended if a white person, a black person, a Native American, a Chinese person, or anyone for that matter wears a sari or churidar or cooks Indian food from time to time with all due respect to the culture or is actively attempting to learn more. I’m super duper happy!!

I recently had a Samoan girl at school approach me and ask me if I was Indian, and I said yes, and she was super excited! She said she was very interested in Indian culture and she learned some Hindi here and there by watching Bollywood movies, and it was great!! A lot of people begin learning about Indian culture from Bollywood movies, and I was so happy to find out someone of a different place was interested in learning about the place I’m from (and have even lived in).

A lot of people talk about how white people can’t participate in certain ceremonies like tea ceremonies or wear cultural dresses, even if they’re being respectful and aware of the culture. By that logic, I shouldn’t have been allowed to learn English, German, and Japanese. I love all three languages and the cultures behind each language, and it’s so interesting to learn how the culture I grew in is very similar to Japanese culture, or how things are done very differently in America and Germany. I despite Tumblr’s logic; instead of allowing people to expand their horizons, it limits them severely because of “feelz”. Most people out there are absolutely ecstatic to know that you’re interested in their cultures, so don’t be afraid to learn more, just because you’re white or something like that.

If you’re white…I think it’s great to go back to your roots, because the so called “white culture” on Tumblr is made up of so many different cultures (Norwegian culture, Polish culture, Hungarian culture, etc), and while people tend to gloss over that…really, it’s all quite interesting! Be proud of where you come from. You can acknowledge the flaws in your country, but it’s also just as possible to love your country despite the flaws.

tldr: Go out and pursue your education of different countries and cultures. I don’t care if what race you are, and I believe that you guys are respectful of those from different places and cultures…so despite what the people on Tumblr may tell you, JUST DO IT!!!

thatnerdygamergirl:

The man in this image is Veerender Jubbal, an awesome Sikh Canadian Let’s Play Gamer, critic, and outspoken feminist. People photoshopped the image on the right (of him holding an ipad) to look like the image on the left (wearing a suicide vest and holding a quran). The photoshopped image has been picked up by multiple news agencies and distributed as a “selfie of one of the Paris attackers still at large”. It is a selfie of an innocent man who has never been to Paris and was targeted, by all accounts, because he had the *audacity* to be a person of color vocally speaking up against Gamergate.

If you see the image on the left circulating, please speak up for Veerender!

thehpalliance: We are with you: processing, grieving, baffled, shattered, grasping desperately for...

thehpalliance:

We are with you: processing, grieving, baffled, shattered, grasping desperately for light.

Here is what we know: unspeakable harm was done to Paris tonight; unspeakable harm will be done to people of Muslim faith and people of color by people who take advantage of tragedy to act on their hatred; people across the world - ourselves among them - are shaken to their very core; this is not the first time; we cannot say it will be the last time.

And so much of this feels intensely personal.

It seems that the list of safe spaces torn apart by violence grows every year: schools, movie theaters, schools again, places of worship, places of community, venues for live music. We grow up hearing that stories are escapes only to find demons in our safest havens.

And so we cannot blame those whose lists of personal safe spaces narrow in parallel. Your feelings are valid, your reaction is valid, and we urge you to follow your gut, to seek what safety means for you.

But if you feel safest in the very places terrorists - in Paris, in Columbine, in Aurora, in Newton, in Charleston, and on and on and on - have devastated, know you have not lost them. If anger boils in your stomach, know nothing can come from meeting their hatred with your own. The most powerful thing we can do every time we move forward from unthinkable loss is to hold on to love and to hold on to what we love.

This is not easy. But it is so important.

The places we love - movie theaters at midnight, libraries where books changed our lives, venues where we sang late into the night - have given us not just entertainment, but spaces to make sense of the world, spaces to make sense of ourselves, crowds to be distinctly and lastingly unalone in, lifelong friendships, lifelong magic, homes to carry with us.

We cannot and will not let them take any of this from us.

Here is how we move forward: keep loving; keep fighting; celebrate story; laugh, dance, sing - with your friends, with strangers, with every single person who keeps showing up when the world tells them not to; resist hatred; resist cynicism; know none of this is foolish; know that it is necessary; protect and defend those who - not for the first time - will be victims of hatred falsely carried out in the name of justice; give love and light to those around you and those around the world; be excellent to each other; be good.

Always, always, always: the weapon we have is love.

"[I]n the wake of a terror attack, Step One is to forget about “the score” completely …   So the next..."

“[I]n the wake of a terror attack, Step One is to forget about “the score” completely …

So the next time you turn on the news and see that terrorists have blown up 10 children with a car bomb, that’s the first step: Realize that the scoreboard lies. It will tell you that winning the game means dropping bombs that you know full well will splatter ten times as many children as collateral damage. The score — the real score — would then be:

Violence Against Children 110, Humanity 0

When a bunch of terrorists blow up a school or shoot up an office full of cartoonists, do you think it’s because they don’t know we have guns and bombs and drones? You think they do what they do because they believe we’re “too weak to strike back” and that we thus need to “show them how strong we are?” …

They know exactly what we’re going to do: We’re going to overreact. We do it every time. That’s why they do it. So stop, step back, and understand something that most of America doesn’t:

They do what they do, because they know we’re too weak to resist striking back.

Our knee-jerk, bomb-dropping reflex is our weakness. They are trying to exploit it, because retaliation bombings are how they recruit more terrorists to their side. And please note that when I talk about their “side,” I’m not talking about Islam, or even Islamic terrorism. Their “side” is what I’m going to henceforth call Team Violence … The bully doesn’t fight because he wants to win; he fights because he wants a world in which everything is resolved by fighting (note: The bully himself doesn’t realize this). It doesn’t matter if he loses — the moment you chose to fight, his side already won, and the world becomes more like the world he wants to live in …

In other words, “We can’t beat them, unless we become more like them.” It’s like a doctor telling you he’s going to get rid of your tumor by growing a bigger, meaner tumor next to it. Even if it works, Team Cancer wins, and you just fell for a scam that has been tripping up humanity for 200,000 years or so.”

realmling:

So….here’s my chubby ass in the “finished enough for now” crochet Dalek. I was roasting in the main room it was so warm .. but it was a hit with everyone who saw it (and I won Belle Chere’s Honorable Mention award at the costume contest).

Best part was telling people they hadn’t seen the best part yet and getting their reactions when I unzipped and “flashed” my inner Dalek at them.

My hands really really need a break before I finish it and fix a few issues that drove me nuts cause I was a tad rushed finishing everything enough to wear it. But it is most certainly not a summer time cosplay and will only come out when it’s cold here in the mountains.

THIS IS AMAZING

krxs10:

!!!!ATTENTION!!!!

Cop Handcuffed 7-Year-Old Boy for No Reason and then He Lost the Key

An angry mother recently posted cellphone video of her 7-year-old son in handcuffs at his elementary school. The officer who detained him was unable to release him because he lost his set of keys to the handcuffs….WTF??

7-years-old Cameron McCadden told his mother that he was handcuffed by police because he kicked a cart and refused to sit down when the officer asked him to, and the school has remained silent about the details of the incident.

In a statement, the Flint Police Department said that the student “appeared intent on injuring himself” and that “The officer used handcuffs to restrain the child to prevent injury to the child or others.” However, Cameron says that he never hit or threatened any of the other children, and no one at the school actually said that he did, the officer just said that he was afraid that the child might hurt someone.

Cameron’s mother, Chrystal McCadden, said that her son has ADHD and while he sometimes has difficulty focusing in class, he is not a violent person and has never exhibited any signs of violent behavior.

“He’s hyper. I’ve gotten these calls about (him) being hyper before. But he is not a violent kid. I’m still trying to get answers,” she said.

To make matters worse, when a distress McCadden got to school to pick up her handcuffed son, the officer cannot find the key.

“You put my son in handcuffs and you didn’t have the key. He wasn’t in here with a gun or knife. There was no other action you could do?” she added.

Flint Police Chief James Tolbert said Friday that he has apologized for the incident.

Now the young boy is likely traumatized, after a simple act of childhood disobedience was turned into a criminal act. smfh.
